Description
The smallest and cutest of the many, many varieties of Butterfly Bush we have growing in our own gardens, ‘Pink Micro Chip’ forms a tiny and tidy pincushion-like mound in garden beds or pots to about 18 to 24 inches tall and equally as wide. Earlier to begin blooming than other varieties, from late spring to very early summer and continuing nonstop to frost, 6″ long wands of pretty, fragrant, orchid-pink flowers will have the butterflies and hummingbirds flocking in to feed on the sweet nectar. With drought, heat and humidity tolerance, high deer and rabbit resistance, and no need for concern about invasiveness or deadheading flowers, this is one easy-to-grow and care for butterfly bush that deserves a spot in every garden where it will grow (USDA Zones 5a-9b).
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing in a mound 18 to 24 inches tall and equally as wide, the Pink Micro Chip Butterfly Bush is ideal for use as an accent in small garden spaces and containers or in groupings or as a low border or groundcover in larger spaces and along paths and walkways. A fine, long-blooming selection as a solo in pots of 12 inch diameter or larger and a wonderful accent in larger combination container gardens. Also nice as an underplanting for smaller trees, such as Crape Myrtle, which allow sunlight to shine beneath their canopies. A fine addition to butterfly and hummingbird gardens, perennial gardens, cottage gardens, pink theme gardens, and Xeriscape gardens (low water needs).
Suggested Spacing: 18 to 24 inches apart for mass plantings or solid borders; 4 feet or more apart for space between plants.

Growing Preferences
The Pink Micro Chip Butterfly Bush is exceptionally easy to grow. It thrives in full to mostly sun and isn’t too picky about soil type, provided the soil is well-drained. It prefers a moist but well-drained soil when young however is quite drought tolerant when established. At least 6 hours of direct sun per day is suggested for best flowering. As with so many other perennial plants, constantly soggy or wet soils can be problematic. No deadheading is required though you can remove spent flowers if you want. This variety is non-invasive.
